We will also include any clinics in our virtual newsletters sent at the beginning of each month. Current Programs:Spring/Summer 2026 Youth Open Gym (Jan 11 - Aug 9) - These open gyms will be run by a core group of volunteers involved with our basketball programming. Sessions will take place on Sundays at DCS, and they are open to any player from RSU5 towns in grades K-8. Activities will vary by session, and dependent on the number of players of each age group and their gender. Expect instructional drills, fun games and occasional scrimmages. All players must register below before attending - NO DROP INS ALLOWED.Past Programs:Fall/Early Winter 2025 Youth Open Gym (Sept-Nov) - description above.Spring 2025 Youth Open Gym (May-June) - description above.April/May 2025 Middle School Boys Clinics - This 4-session clinic series (April 28th, May 1st, 5th & 6th) is open to any Middle School student (6-8th grade) interested in playing in the boys basketball division. Varsity Head Coach, Tyler Tracy, will teach players and practice the basic skills and strategy of the sport via fun drills, games and competitions. Register below to join! NO DROP INS ALLOWED. April/May 2025 Middle School Girls Clinics - THESE CLINICS WERE CANCELLED DUE TO LOW REGISTRATION NUMBERS. This 3-session clinic series (April 9th, May 7th, May 21st) is open to any Middle School student (6-8th grade) interested in playing in the girls basketball division. Players will practice the basic skills and strategy of the sport in fun drills, games and competitions. Register below to join! NO DROP INS ALLOWED. March 9th, 2025 - Come join us for this fundraiser clinic, where kids will practice the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and interactive environment. All proceeds will be donated to the National CMV Foundation. We will have many coaches involved, including players from the FHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams and coaches from RSU5's Rec Basketball program. The clinic will consist of drills and activities teaching skills and strategy, as well as fun games to bring an element of competition. All players welcome, regardless of skill level or previous experience. At the end of the clinic, each player is welcome to join a pizza party sponsored by Pat's Pizza. Our main objective is to promote sportsmanship, integrity, and fairness. Teams will practice once during the week in the evening, and have a Saturday morning game. Games will be held in Durham, Freeport, Yarmouth and Brunswick. When you register, you will be asked where you would prefer to practice. You may choose either Durham/Pownal (practices at Pownal Elementary School with home games at DCS) or Freeport (practices at Mast Landing School with home games at FHS), and we will do all that we can to place your child on a team that practices in that town. Practices begin as soon as November 19. Sign up by November 7 to guarantee a spot. Slime Masters is now Science Masters! Science Masters Session I (Winter): Join our after-school class, a hands-on chemistry and physics enrichment program designed to help students understand how materials behave and change. Each week, children explore states of matter, chemical reactions, elasticity, viscosity, and magnetism through guided experiments and structured investigations.Students will create and test different compounds (such as stress ball, elephant toothpaste, glow-in-the-dark and magnetic slime) while practicing scientific concept of trial and error. These activities support focus, confidence, and sensory regulation. Class is led by a highly educated instructor and emphasizes real science concepts presented in a fun, engaging age appropriate way.Science Masters Session II (Spring): Join our after-school class, where children explore technology and engineering through engaging, hands-on learning. Each week, students investigate how science shapes the world around them—from how video games are created and what pixels are, to how temperature, forces, and motion affect materials and movement. Students will build speed ramp, experiment with heating and cooling using ice and test magnetic forces using Minecraft blocks. These activities support focus, confidence, and sensory regulation.The class is led by a highly educated instructor and is designed to present rigorous science in an engaging, age-appropriate way that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. MSS 2nd graders may take their regular bus to MLS for this program.

Join us to learn beginning jazz and hip hop dance moves, conditioning and improvisation.  Get ready to have fun and work hard as we move to the beat!  Age appropriate music will be used for all sessions. Please send your dancer with comfortable flexible clothes (no jeans) and sneakers. Morse Street second grader are encouraged to sign up for classes at Mast Landing and may take their regular bus there on class day. On the last day of the Winter and Winter/Spring classes there will be a parent showcase.All Late Spring dancers are invited to perform at the FHS Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, June 9.

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM    Travel Basketball (Grade 5-6) - Girls Travel Basketball: RSU5 Team 1 (Simkowitz) @ Practice
Maine offers various opportunities for kids to play basketball at a higher level.  We are offering early registration for those interested in a competitive Travel Basketball league taking place north of Cumberland county. Registration for this program is closed; sign-ups after October 24 will only be taken if there is room on a team. During the first week of November, RSU5 CP and surrounding towns will meet to determine a game schedule for this coming winter.  Teams will practice twice per week beginning in November and games will be played on Saturdays beginning in December and running until February break.  Additional pre-season scrimmages and post-season tournaments are available for teams that are interested (additional associated fees not covered by RSU5CP).After the evaluation night, a coach will reach out with details on practice days and times. Maine offers various opportunities for kids to play basketball at a higher level.  We are offering early registration for those interested in a competitive Travel Basketball league taking place north of Cumberland county. Registration for this program is closed; sign-ups after October 24 will only be taken if there is room on a team. During the first week of November, RSU5 CP and surrounding towns will meet to determine a game schedule for this coming winter.  Teams will practice twice per week beginning in November and games will be played on Saturdays beginning in December and running until February break.  Additional pre-season scrimmages and post-season tournaments are available for teams that are interested (additional associated fees not covered by RSU5CP).After the evaluation night, a coach will reach out with details on practice days and times. NO DROP INS ALLOWED. March 9th, 2025 - Come join us for this fundraiser clinic, where kids will practice the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and interactive environment. All proceeds will be donated to the National CMV Foundation. We will have many coaches involved, including players from the FHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams and coaches from RSU5's Rec Basketball program. The clinic will consist of drills and activities teaching skills and strategy, as well as fun games to bring an element of competition. All players welcome, regardless of skill level or previous experience. At the end of the clinic, each player is welcome to join a pizza party sponsored by Pat's Pizza. You'll also learn ways to improve your physical fitness and focus while developing a positive attitude in your daily life! Come try out some classes and start on a track to achieving your first belt!Classes taught by Master Chasse, a Taekwondo instructor who has trained for over 38 years and taught for 25+, as well. Slime Masters is now Science Masters! Science Masters Session I (Winter): Join our after-school class, a hands-on chemistry and physics enrichment program designed to help students understand how materials behave and change. Each week, children explore states of matter, chemical reactions, elasticity, viscosity, and magnetism through guided experiments and structured investigations.Students will create and test different compounds (such as stress ball, elephant toothpaste, glow-in-the-dark and magnetic slime) while practicing scientific concept of trial and error. These activities support focus, confidence, and sensory regulation. Class is led by a highly educated instructor and emphasizes real science concepts presented in a fun, engaging age appropriate way.Science Masters Session II (Spring): Join our after-school class, where children explore technology and engineering through engaging, hands-on learning. Each week, students investigate how science shapes the world around them—from how video games are created and what pixels are, to how temperature, forces, and motion affect materials and movement. Students will build speed ramp, experiment with heating and cooling using ice and test magnetic forces using Minecraft blocks. These activities support focus, confidence, and sensory regulation.The class is led by a highly educated instructor and is designed to present rigorous science in an engaging, age-appropriate way that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM    Rec Basketball League (Grades 3-6) - Grade 2-4 Extension Season: "February Madness": 2nd Grade Boys Extension Team @ 3rd/4th Boys Extension Team
Through practice, clinics, and games, this local league provides and promotes a safe, recreational basketball program for youth in grades 3 – 6 throughout RSU5. Focus is on good sportsmanship, developing strong playing skills, and promoting friendly relationships among the players, coaches, referees, and parents. Our main objective is to promote sportsmanship, integrity, and fairness. Teams will practice once during the week in the evening, and have a Saturday morning game. Games will be held in Durham, Freeport, Yarmouth and Brunswick. When you register, you will be asked where you would prefer to practice. You may choose either Durham/Pownal (practices at Pownal Elementary School with home games at DCS) or Freeport (practices at Mast Landing School with home games at FHS), and we will do all that we can to place your child on a team that practices in that town. Practices begin as soon as November 19. Sign up by November 7 to guarantee a spot. After that date, players will be added to the waiting list and a CP staff member will reach out regarding team placement.Once teams are finalized, a coach will contact you and we will assign weekly practice times. If you have a specific day or time that you CANNOT practice, please indicate this when signing up. In an effort to create balanced teams, we cannot accommodate all specific team/coach requests.Parent coaches and assistants are needed in order to run this program."February Madness" is an optional program open to anyone who participated in the Rec League and wishes to extend their season. This program is not open to players that did not play basketball in the winter leading up to the program.

Slime Masters is now Science Masters! Science Masters Session I (Winter): Join our after-school class, a hands-on chemistry and physics enrichment program designed to help students understand how materials behave and change. Each week, children explore states of matter, chemical reactions, elasticity, viscosity, and magnetism through guided experiments and structured investigations.Students will create and test different compounds (such as stress ball, elephant toothpaste, glow-in-the-dark and magnetic slime) while practicing scientific concept of trial and error. These activities support focus, confidence, and sensory regulation. Class is led by a highly educated instructor and emphasizes real science concepts presented in a fun, engaging age appropriate way.Science Masters Session II (Spring): Join our after-school class, where children explore technology and engineering through engaging, hands-on learning. Each week, students investigate how science shapes the world around them—from how video games are created and what pixels are, to how temperature, forces, and motion affect materials and movement. Students will build speed ramp, experiment with heating and cooling using ice and test magnetic forces using Minecraft blocks. These activities support focus, confidence, and sensory regulation.The class is led by a highly educated instructor and is designed to present rigorous science in an engaging, age-appropriate way that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. MSS 2nd graders may take their regular bus to MLS for this program.

Play pick up basketball and stay in shape year-round.  You must be pre-registered with Community Programs.  NO drop-ins.  Sundays excluded when Monday is a holiday. Wednesdays excluded for school gatherings and during middle school basketball season.Please Note: Wednesdays at DCS are now completed for the season. This option will return some time after February break. If you registered for Wednesdays originally, you can register for Sundays (for the rest of the season) at no cost!

Join us to learn beginning jazz and hip hop dance moves, conditioning and improvisation.  Get ready to have fun and work hard as we move to the beat!  Age appropriate music will be used for all sessions. Please send your dancer with comfortable flexible clothes (no jeans) and sneakers. Morse Street second grader are encouraged to sign up for classes at Mast Landing and may take their regular bus there on class day. On the last day of the Winter and Winter/Spring classes there will be a parent showcase.All Late Spring dancers are invited to perform at the FHS Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, June 9.
